Driving tests

Cramming fades. Spacing lasts.

What you cram the night before fades within days. Spaced repetition asks each question again just as you’re about to forget it, and every time you remember, the next gap grows. Lymi uses your grade to decide when each question comes back.

Recall

Recalling beats rereading

Lymi asks before it shows the answer. Trying to remember something makes it stick better than reading it again, as Roediger and Karpicke found in 2006.

Spacing

Longer gaps, longer memory

Spreading reviews out helps you remember for longer. In 2013, Dunlosky and colleagues rated testing yourself and spacing out practice as highly effective.

Know where you stand.

Each deck counts its questions as New, Learning and Known. A few minutes a day moves them along, and one look tells you how much of the catalogue you already know before your test date.

A deck, not a quiz.

A practice quiz tells you how you did today. A deck keeps track of every question, so the review you do tomorrow is the one you need.

Are these the official questions?

For Germany, the US, Czechia and Spain, the decks follow the question list each exam publishes, named under the exam. Canada and the DMVs don’t publish their questions, so those decks are practice questions written from the official guide, and the language exam decks teach the vocabulary of each level rather than an official list. Lymi isn’t affiliated with any exam authority and can’t promise a pass.

Which language are the translations in?

Questions and answers stay in the exam’s language. Each card adds a translation in English, Ukrainian or Russian: the language of the page you add the deck from.
